Wedding Essentials
A wedding becomes truly unique when you add all the little
special touches to
suit your individual preferences and we would be delighted to discuss with you
any requirements you may have. We have shown below some of the optional
services we can pre-book on your behalf - specific details and costs of what is
available will be sent to you upon request.
The flowers
For each resort, we are able to give you a rough guide of the types of flower
arrangements available (posy, long bouquet, etc...) and once you have decided on
the
style, your request will be forwarded to our overseas team. Buttonholes,
bridesmaid
posies, etc., are arranged in the same way as it is always best to pre-book
everything. In
resort, we’ll introduce you to the florist to take care of all the final
details.

wish to
take with you special cake decorations to add the final touches to the design of
your cake.

2 tier from £85
The photographs & video/DVD
We have negotiated special arrangements with local photographers at all our

resorts.

Your Perfect Day
What better place to have a
fairytale wedding than on the sunshine island of Cyprus, the birthplace of
Aphrodite - the goddess of love!
A Wedding in Cyprus is everything you imagined
it could be, and more! You will be touched by its warm and friendly
character, its quality hotels with excellent facilities, combined with
sun-kissed beaches and the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean to create
an idyllic wedding; No wonder Cyprus leaves so many people enchanted with
everlasting memories.
Honeymoons
If you choose to marry at home, why not spend your honeymoon in Cyprus?
Our hotels have some amazing offers for newly-weds and weddings & honeymoons
team can advise and arrange something very special for you both to ensure a
lifetime of sunny, happy honeymoon memories.
Renewal of vows
You may be married or planning a celebration at home however why not renew your
vows abroad against a background of turquoise waters, blue skies and with the
golden warmth of the sun shining down on you. You may be celebrating that
special anniversary or simply wish to express your commitment to each other; let
our Wedding Consultants arrange a renewal of vows ceremony.
It is possible for the
ceremony to take place either in a registry office, or in the grounds of some
registry offices, and for those who prefer a more traditional setting we can
offer a chapel or church wedding with ceremony conducted by an Anglican minister
or Catholic priest
Civil Ceremonies
These ceremonies take place between 10am and 2pm Monday to Friday (except Public
Holidays), at the Town Hall of your chosen
holiday
resort.
The wedding ceremony will be conducted in English, and all
paperwork and the Marriage Certificate will be issued in English.
Two witnesses will be required in accordance with Cyprus law, and
we will be happy to provide these should the couple be alone in
Cyprus. The ceremony is very similar
to that
in the UK as Cyprus
was once part of the British Commonwealth.
Registry Offices are available at:
Limassol, Paphos, Polis
(also for Latchi), Ayia Napa, Protaras &
Larnaca
In-Hotel Civil Weddings
Several of our hotels have specially designated rooms and
delightfully decorated outdoor ‘wedding decks’, where the local
mayor can conduct your wedding service.
Other Civil Weddings
Outdoor civil weddings are also available, weather permitting,
at The Cultural Centre
in Limassol, the Amphitheatre in Ayia
Napa and Peyia Village,
just outside Paphos.
All have attractive
settings and it is perfectly acceptable to put your own floral
arrangements within the ceremonial area should you so wish.
A church blessing following your civil wedding can be arranged,
in
the resorts of Limassol, Paphos, Pissouri, Polis & Latchi.
A religious
blessing in the grounds of your hotel is also available.

Legalities
You may rest assured that weddings in Cyprus are perfectly legal. By Cyprus law,
your
hotel must be located in the same town in which your marriage will take place.
Both Bride and Groom must be in Cyprus for at least 5 working days before the
wedding can take place. Sterling Tours therefore recommend booking a two-week
holiday so that the wedding can be easily accommodated during the second week of
your stay.
All Weddings
the ceremony will be conducted in English and all paperwork and Marriage
Certificate will be issued in English. Two witnesses will be required in
accordance with Cyprus law and we will be happy to provide these should the
couple be alone in Cyprus.
Prior to the wedding day the couple visit the local Registry Office, with all
relevant documents, to register their intention to marry.
Documentation
Whatever type of service chosen both the bride and groom must take
with them the following:
•Full
Birth Certificates
•10 year
British Passports with at least 6 months’ validity remaining.
Non-British passport holders must check their own position with the
Cyprus High Commission in London -
Tel: 020 7499 8272.
•Sworn
Affidavits
- Statement made by yourself declaring that you
are free to marry. A solicitor or notary officer must witness your
signature, not more than 3 months before the date of your wedding
•If under 18 years
old, the written consent of parent/guardian is
required in sworn affidavit form.
•If either
the bride or groom is a widow/widower, the original
marriage and death certificates must be presented.
•For
Anglican Church and Civil Weddings, if either party
has been divorced, they must produce their original decree absolute.
Anglican Weddings
A meeting with the minister will be arranged prior to your wedding day to
discuss the service and any special requirements you may have. Persons of
divorced status must produce original decree absolute. At least one of the
couple must produce a Christening or Baptism certificate. The Anglican
Church in Cyprus will require the name of your local church in the UK in order
that they may inform them of your marriage, as a matter of diplomacy
Church and Minister's fees are payable locally and vary between CY£150 and
CY350.
Catholic Weddings
A civil
ceremony, conducted by the local mayor or registrar, must precede the religious
service for Catholic weddings. although this does not have to happen on the same
day.
The Catholic couple must visit their local priest in the UK, and inform him of
their
intention to marry in Cyprus, in order that documents in addition
to those mentioned
can be prepared. These include certificates of Baptism for both Bride and Groom.
Their local priest will then send these to the priest conducting the service in
Cyprus.
Couples staying in Ayia Napa have their civil ceremony locally, but their
religious service is held at the Terra Sancta Catholic Church in Larnaca.
Blessings and Renewal of Vows
For couples who would like a religious service following their civil ceremony,
or for those wishing to renew their vows, all the above information for Anglican
Weddings applies
It should be noted that in rare cases The Church may refuse to marry/bless
couples that might be considered
unsuitable for a church ceremony, in which case a registry office ceremony will
be arranged.
