North Western Cyprus has not been denied the benefits of tourism,
but careful monitoring of new development ensures the continuity of the
area’s character and natural beauty. The two main resorts in this area are Polis
and Latchi which lie Just 35Kms from Paphos town.
Polis is a small picturesque
market town, offering a taste of traditional Greek Cypriot life.
A pretty pedestrian square is the
focal point of the town, offering a good selection of shops, cafes, restaurants
and tavernas. The sand and shingle beach is a 20 minute walk away.
Latchi lies 4km west of Polis and
stretches along the waterfront with a tempting line-up of fish tavernas facing
the picturesque little harbour. There is no ‘village centre’ but the small main
street offers a handful tourists shops, mini-markets and a bank. The shingle
sandy beaches are conveniently situated on both sides of the harbour and offer
excellent water sports.
North Western Cyprus is rural and
unspoilt and is suited to people who are looking to taste and feel the real
Cyprus and want to be away from the madding crowd.

This quiet resort
is situated midway between Paphos and Limassol, making it the ideal
location for those who wish to escape the crowds.
Pissouri could not be more different to its two neighbours. The resort
fringes an idyllic bay of sand and small shingles with a gentle
combination of stunning scenery, and just the right dose of amenities, such as watersports, a few tavernas and a handful of small shops.
The old and pretty village of Pissouri, set high up on the hillside
about 1,000ft above the sea, commands the most magnificent view of
some 20 miles of Mediterranean coastline, surrounded by vineyards and
beautiful scenery.
Some of the island's most famous historical sites are within easy
driving distance from Pissouri. In Pissouri village, where almost
everyone speaks English, one can enjoy the friendly atmosphere and
savour the relaxed and stress-free life of a typical Cypriot village.

Limassol’s central location on the south
coast makes it a good base to explore the island. Stretching

The three areas that make up Limassol are
quite distinct, the main town, locally called “Lemesos” is a
thriving port and busy commercial centre, packed with shops,
offices, restaurants and bars. Its pretty seafront promenade
lined with pavement cafes and restaurants is a perfect setting
to indulge in a bit of ‘people watching’. Potamos Yermasoyia is the main tourist area of Limassol, with a huge variety of tavernas and restaurants of exceptional standards, and varied cuisine to suit everyone's taste. The choice of bars, discos and nightclubs is endless; while barbecues, Cypriot folk dancing and bouzouki nights are also a main feature of Limassol. To the east of Potamos Yermasoyia lies the much quieter Amathus area of Limassol, it has a laid back feel to the place, but still has an excellent choice of cafes, bars and restaurants. Limassol makes a good centre from which to explore much of Cyprus, including the Ancient City of Curium, the 5th century Baths and the fascinating villages and monasteries of the Troodos mountains. |

Stunning beaches and amazing nightlife
have made Ayia Napa one of the hottest destinations in the Mediterranean. The secret of ensuring your holiday in Ayia Napa will be just what you expect, is to carefully choose where to stay. |
|
The closer your are to the
town’s centre, the busier and noisier it will be. If you’re not into partying all night
long or if you’re travelling with the family, then there’s a varied choice of
options, including top class accommodation in and around Nissi Bay and
Makronisos Bay! Similarly, there are plenty of excellent choices towards the
eastern outskirts of the resort, truly suitable if you have no
intention of taking part in the huge clubbing scene. |
