Polis
Polis and Latchi (4km apart) lie on the north coast
bordering the Akamas Peninsular (Nature Reserve), situated on
the north western tip of the island. This area has the most
remote and arguably the most unspoilt, naturally beautiful
landscape - with its sandy bays, hills, nature trails,
abundance of flora and fauna and wildlife. It's a haven for
ramblers and watersport enthusiasts, or for those seeking a
totally tranquil environment. The Baths of Aphrodite - a
natural grotto and legendary beauty spot - offers the most
spectacular coastal and sea views. The entire region combines
the majesty of hills, valleys and the sea.
The rural town of Polis, dotted with citrus groves - with its superb examples
of traditional architecture in the style of the Classical Revival with beautiful
wooden balconies - is charming and welcoming. The town square with its restored
stone buildings is now a paved area and the focal point of life in Polis. This
picturesque square, with a church, a daily market by day, a sprinkling of
interesting little shops and lined with tavernas and cafe- bars, gathers pace at
night. With an excellent archaeological Museum and fine examples of Byzantine
churches - it's an ideal location for relaxation and exploring the countryside.
The beach at Polis is a 20min walk from the town centre and is accessed via a
path through an area of Eucalyptus trees and the Dasoudi camping site - a
tranquil wooded area which opens up to the wonderfully uncommercialised sand &
shingle beach and clean turquoise sea. Facilities on the beach include beach
volley ball, a snack bar, showers & public conveniences. This beach is a gem for
lazy, relaxing, undisturbed days by the sea.
Nightlife is laid back and centred around the town square, with a good
variety of restaurants, tavernas and cafe-bars to suit all tastes. There are
also local tavernas scattered around the town, offering traditional meze and
Cypriot specialities and Polis does boast two nightclubs!
Ideal for
couples and families.

Latchi
The peaceful resort of Latchi is situated 4km west of Polis. With its
picturesque fishing harbour, filled with brightly painted fishing boats and its
waterfront, lined with excellent fish tavernas, it's a delightful, traditional
small seaside resort - stretching 3km along the coast. Latchi used to serve as a
small port for shipping carobs. The old stone carob warehouses have been
converted into restaurants, tavernas and places of recreation and have retained
their charm.
The long stretch of sandy beaches are lapped by the
crystal clear sapphire waters and are inviting and uncrowded.
Offering a great range of water-sports - including scuba
diving, snorkelling and boat trips around the Akamas coastal
area - deep sea diving is popular here, due to the exceptional
depth of the sea.
Nightlife revolves around the
waterfront, with a great variety of restaurants, tavernas,
cafes and bars. Experience the rural taste of Cypriot cuisine
- fresh fish and traditional meze - freshly caught or grown
locally. One nightclub serves those looking for a
livelier
time.
Ideal for couples and families.
